Yes indeed well the wish to get rid of amunition is understandable, take it from a expert. Todays optical sensor and targeting systems can increase the efficiency of standard combat rifels by a scale where a single soldier can take 100 times more of the enemy essentially allowing small flexible armys to take it on with any country imaginable. Problem is the rifles cant store that amount of bullets and they cant be carried with them for the soldier already has enough to carry. And reloading phases would be so long that the enemy would kill you while exchanging amo. Therfore a reusable Blaster type amunition is highly welcomed as it would change the odds dramatically together with new targeting systems. The essence is though that incase of such a invention the corporation behind it would secretly outfit the enemy with counter messures by simply selling the technologhy and let be produced legally on forein soil. Thus you have to reinvest to counter the counter and guess who gets that multi billion contract again ? They say god bless the contractors but it are these greedy coorporations who indanger the brave men and women on the batlefields by betraying there advantages and there Kung Fu. I therfor think all Defence corporations schould be institionalized as once wars become lesse profitable you will se much less of them.
So lets hold this single piece of the puzzle to worldpeace: “Institutinalization of Defence Cooperations”.

LOL. Yah. The Air Force had its own “dazzler” program called the PHaSR or something to that effect. It was a battlefield weapon though in rifle format.
